AIR FORCE IDENTIFIES 8 CREW MEMBERS LOST IN OSPREY CRASH

WASHINGTON — Air Force Special Operations Command said Tuesday it has identified the eight service members lost when their Osprey crashed off the coast of Japan last week and was now focused on recovering all of their bodies.

The CV-22B Osprey crashed Nov. 29 during a training mission. On Monday, the Air Force said six of the eight crew members’ remains had been located. Three of those have been recovered. The two lost crew members were unlikely to have survived, the Air Force said Tuesday. The lost crew members include:

U.S. Air Force Maj. Jeffrey T. Hoernemann, 32, of Andover, Minnesota;

U.S. Air Force Maj. Eric V. Spendlove, 36, of St. George, Utah;

U.S. Air Force Maj. Luke A. Unrath, 34, of Riverside, California;

U.S. Air Force Capt. Terrell K. Brayman, 32, of Pittsford, New York;

U.S. Air Force Tech. Sgt. Zachary E. Lavoy, 33, of Oviedo, Florida;

U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Jake M. Turnage, 25, of Kennesaw, Georgia;

U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Brian K. Johnson, 32, of Reynoldsbu­rg, Ohio;

U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Jacob “Jake” M. Galliher, 24, a native of Pittsfield, Mass.

Actors vote to approve contract

LOS ANGELES — Hollywood’s actors voted to ratify the deal with studios that ended their strike after nearly four months.

The approval of the three-year contract from the members of the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists was no certainty. The 78% yes result in voting that began Nov. 13 and ended Tuesday was a major relief for SAG-AFTRA leaders and the entertainm­ent industry. Just over 38% of members cast votes, SAG-AFTRA said.

New offer made to Russia

WASHINGTON — The Biden administra­tion has made a new and significan­t offer for the release of American detainees Paul Whelan and Evan Gershkovic­h, but Russia has rejected the offer, the State Department said Tuesday.

O’Connor funeral Dec. 19

WASHINGTON — Retired Justice Sandra Day O’Connor will lie in repose at the Supreme Court on Dec. 18, with a funeral service at the National Cathedral the following day, the court said.
