Report: NU may play on lakefront

-

Northwestern is seeking permission from the city of Evanston to add seating for 15,000 fans at its lakefront athletic facility, WGN-TV reported Wednesday.

The Wildcats need a temporary home football field until a replacement for Ryan Field is built. The new stadium is expected to be completed by the 2026 season.

According to the report, a ruling from the city could come this week. If approved, Northwestern then would need to apply for permits to upgrade the facility, which is the home for Northwestern soccer and lacrosse.
