Book recommendations from the Biblioracle
All of this week’s recommendations are left over from requests made prior to the Biblioracle Live event, which was awesome, though we reached Zoom capacity (100) very quickly, which meant some people never made it through the virtual door. I also received far more requests for recommendations than I could accommodate, so I’ll follow up with a few here. We’ll try another event sometime soon, maybe with more capacity. 1. “The Body: A Guide for Occupants” by Bill Bryson 2. “Kingdom of Nauvoo: The Rise and Fall of a Religious Empire on the American Frontier” by Benjamin E.
Park 3. “Kill the Farm Boy” by Delilah Dawson and Kevin Hearne 4. “Rose Madder” by Stephen King 5. “The Boatman’s Daughter” by Andy
Davidson — Kelli D., Willowbrook
For Kelli, “Broken Monsters” by Lauren Beukes will have the right mix of tension and fun. 1. “The Coldest Warrior” by Paul Vidich 2. “The Introvert Advantage: How Quiet People Can Thrive in an Extrovert World” by Marti Olsen Laney 3. “Voodoo River” by by Robert Crais 4. “Sunset Express” by Robert Crais 5. “The Deserter” by Nelson DeMille — Brian S., Saint Charles
I think Brian will lock in with Ace Atkins’ Quinn Colson and find a series he’ll continue to follow. The first book is “The Ranger.”
1. “Careless in Red” by Elizabeth
George 2. “Cannery Row” by John Steinbeck 3. “Wow, No Thank You” by Samantha
Irby 4. “The Shipping News” by E. Annie
Proulx 5. “Born A Crime: Stories From a South African Childhood” by Trevor
Noah — Kathie C., Wayne
Kathie’s clearly drawn to both quite serious and quite funny books. This one leans toward the funny side: “Moo” by Jane Smiley.
