The White Sox transferred reliever Aaron Bummer to the 45-day injured list, one of three roster moves announced Saturday before their game against the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium.

“He’s still on his throwing program,” Sox manager Rick Renteria said.

“It hasn’t changed his schedule in terms as how we see him and his potential return time frame. He’s on schedule.”

The Sox also placed reliever Jace Fry on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to Thursday) with back spasms and purchased the contract of pitcher Alex McRae from the Schaumburg training facility.

Bummer has been on the injured list since Aug. 8 with a left biceps strain.

He suffered the injury the previous night against the Cleveland Indians when he pitched 1 2⁄3 innings but exited after throwing a strike to Jose Ramirez with two outs in the seventh inning.

Bummer is 1-0 with a 1.23 ERA, 12 strikeouts and three holds in seven appearances this season.

Bummer, who tied for sixth in the American League with 27 holds in 2019, agreed to a fiveyear, $16 million contract with the Sox during spring training.

Fry has a 3.65 ERA, one hold and 15 strikeouts in 13 appearances this season. He has an 8 1⁄3 scoreless innings streak with 11 strikeouts in his last nine games.

The Sox signed McRae as a free agent Jan. 8. He split 2019 between the Pittsburgh Pirates and their Triple-A affiliate in Indianapolis.

He went 0-4 with an 8.78 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 11 appearances (two starts) over three stints with the Pirates and 7-8 with a 5.20 ERA and 101 strikeouts in 22 starts with Indianapolis last season. McRae went 0-5 with an 8.18 ERA and 24 strikeouts in 13 career games (two starts) in two seasons with the Pirates (2018-19).
