Reason for expanded group

-

In response to the letter from Judy Cape (“Expansion hurts progress,” Feb. 13): I am 62 years old. I am a kidney transplant recipient, so I am taking a lot of medication to suppress my immune system to prevent rejection of the kidney and further dialysis. If I got COVID-19, I would have difficulty fighting it.

That is why the governor expanded eligibility for the vaccine to people with certain underlying medical conditions who are at a high risk of severe illness or death from the virus. Otherwise, they would have to wait for the vaccinations of all people who are 65 and older and essential workers.
