John Vincent Dwyer, 86 passed away June 22, 2022. John was born and raised on the northwest side of Chicago, the youngest of three boys (predecease­d by Jerome and Robert). He served as an altar boy - mostly to skip class - and enjoyed rowdy fun running around his neighborho­od in the 1940s-50s.

John married his high school sweetheart and best friend, Joan (nee Marron) in 1957. Together they had five children. Kathleen, (preceded in death by) John “boy”, Jeannine Cordwell (Colin), Ken (Kristy) and Colleen Johnson (Kevin). John learned the trade of telephone repair from his father- a skill that allowed him competence to fix all kinds of gadgets around the house throughout his lifetime. John had a career in retail, first as a storeowner of the local Ben Franklin in Lisle, IL and later as a Regional Manager for Sportmart. John and Joan had many opportunit­ies to travel around the world. John enjoyed going out whether he was visiting a new city or near to his home - he loved a nice meal and a tasty margarita. He often accompanie­d Joan to the theater and enjoyed the company of friends. John was a true sports fan and never gave up rooting for his Chicago teams, The Cubs, Bears and Blackhawks. He was a man among men with a heart of gold. He never knew a stranger. John’s pride and joy was his family - his children and grandchild­ren Mary (Jimmy), Martha (Jared), Maggie (Tyler), Jack, Jessie, Corbin, Spencer, Jacob and Luke. and his three great grandchild­ren Rhya, Jay and Alma. He taught his children grit, optimism, forgivenes­s - and appreciati­on of good humor. Visitation Monday June 27th, 2022 from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Williams-Kamp Funeral Home located at 430 E. Roosevelt Rd. in Wheaton, IL. Funeral will be Tuesday June 28th 2022 10:00 AM mass will be celebrated at St James the Apostle Church located at 480 Park Blvd. in Glen Ellyn. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, Illinois.
