Zbieszkowski, Dolores A.
Dolores Alice Zbieszkowski was born in 1929, she passed away peacefully on June 17, 2022. Dolores was born in Chicago, Illinois where she spent the majority of her life. After marrying Ed Zbieszkowski in 1949 she spent her early years in the Humboldt Park neighborhood as a mother raising her only child Bill. She eventually went to work at St. Elizabeth Hospital then moved to the Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company in downtown Chicago where she worked as Executive Switchboard Operator until she retired. Dolores enjoyed spending time fishing on Burnham Harbor from the family’s Cabin Cruiser “LiL Mommie.” Lake Michigan’s Montrose Harbor was another favorite place for fishing for perch with Ed and Bill. Upon retirement the family moved to a new high-rise condo in Niles, Illinois where she became very involved with the “Greens on Bunker Hill’’ Condo Board. When she wasn’t playing cards with her girlfriends, one of her joys was planning the condos’ landscaping where she helped plant flowers, which, much to her dismay, the deer ate. One of her favorite times was Christmas where she helped decorate the condo’s lobby with a huge tree, reindeer, while placing poinsettias on every floor for all to enjoy. Escaping Chicago’s cold weather Ed and Dolores would visit Bill in Florida where they enjoyed their time on the ocean, fishing, and making new friends. She moved to Rockport, Texas due to health issues and to be close to Bill.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents Leo Witkowski and Elsie Zavantson and Ed, her husband of 49 years. The family is grateful to the caring and loving staff at Gulf Pointe Village Assisted Living facility.
