„ Angels: Manager Phil Nevin was suspended for one game and fined an undisclose­d amount by MLB on Saturday for a postgame outburst at an umpire following a loss to the Blue Jays a night earlier. Bench coach Ray Montgomery managed the Angels during the second game of the threegame series as Nevin served his suspension. Nevin was angry about the game-ending called third strike against pinch hitter Michael Stefanic, who entered in the ninth inning with the bases loaded . ... OF Taylor Ward was taken to a Toronto hospital for tests after being hit in the head by a pitch from Blue Jays RHP in the fifth inning Saturday. Batting with the bases loaded, Ward was hit by a 2-0 pitch clocked at 91 mph. The ball appeared to strike Ward next to his next left eye, knocking off his batting helmet. Plate umpire Andy Fletcher motioned to the Angels’ dugout for the trainer as Ward went down with blood running down his face. Angels trainers rushed to the plate and held a towel to Ward’s face. After a couple of minutes, Ward got to his feet and left on a cart.

„ Yankees: Aaron Judge homered for the first time since returning from a toe injury, sending a 442-foot drive over the wall in center field — a two-run shot — in the third inning against the Orioles in an 8-3 victory.

„ Astros: Jeremy Peña had a career-high four RBIs, Yainer Díaz and José Abreu added three apiece as the Astros had their highest-scoring game of the season in a 17-4 rout of the Rays.

„ Brewers: Veteran 1B Carlos Santana went 0-for-3 with a walk in his debut with the team in an 11-5 loss to the

Braves. The Brewers him in a Thursday trade that sent minor-league INF Jhonny Severino to the Pirates. Marcell Ozuna homered twice for the Braves.

„ Giants: J.D. Davis homered on the first pitch from Maurico Llovera in the ninth to give the Giants a 3-2 victory over the Red Sox.

„ Dodgers: All-Star Mookie Betts was scratched from the lineup with right ankle soreness. He injured his ankle while trying to back out of an inside pitch from Alexis Diaz in the eighth inning of Friday’s loss to the Reds.

„ Blue Jays: Alejandro Kirk hit two home runs, Santiago Espinal added a two-run homer and the Blue Jays beat the Angels 6-1 . ... Closer Jordan Romano landed on the 15-day IL because of a sore lower back, one day after the right-hander left with two outs in the ninth inning against the Angels.

„ Cubs: The team activated 3B Nick Madrigal from the 10-day IL and optioned INF Miles Mastrobuon­i to Triple-A Iowa. Madrigal was placed on the injured list July 4 because of a strained right hamstring. He played five rehab games with Iowa, going 5 for 18. In 53 games this season, he’s hitting .278 with one homer and 17 RBIs. „ White Sox: Tim Anderson homered for the first time in more than a year on a three-hit night and Mike Clevinger tossed five shutout innings in his return from the IL as the White Sox topped the Guardians 7-2. „ Guardians: Manager Terry Francona was ejected in the first inning against the White Sox. Francona was tossed by first base umpire Todd Tichenor for arguing after Steven Kwan was doubled off first.
