Shanghai Feilo Acoustics Co Ltd has since 2006 been taking measures to develop zero-pollution LED lighting products and has in the past decade reduced its carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide emissions by over 5.98 million tons and 180,000 tons respectively, according to the company’s president Cai Xiaoqing.

The company also said that its energy-saving and emissionreduction LED products have been widely used across China’s urban landscape, from streets to tunnels to bridges and railway stations.

“We are keen to reduce pollution and create a better living and working environment for people through our commitment to manufacturing zero-emission products,” said Cai, who added that the company’s projects have resulted in savings of up to 6 billion kilowatt hours of electricity and 2.4 million tons of coal.

In April 2015, Feilo Acoustics signed a strategic corporation agreement with R20 Regions of Climate Action to have its energysaving products widely applied in member countries of the R20.

The R20 Regions of Climate Action is a non-profit organization founded in 2010 by former governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger and other global leaders in cooperation with the United Nations. It promotes and implement projects that are designed to produce local economic and environmental benefits in the form of reduced energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.

“The pollution is killing 7 million people a year worldwide, which is many more than those dying from accidents, homicides, suicides and wars all combined. Luckily, we have enterprises like Feilo Acoustics who are a part of the solution,” said Schwarzenegger.

“In developed countries, around 12 percent of the electricity used is dedicated to lighting. New technologies based on LED are easy to implement and can be up to 80 percent more efficient that regular light bulbs,” added Schwarzenegger.

In early 2015, Feilo Acoustics signed an energy-saving project valued 3 billion euros ($3.4 billion) with French company INESA Europe, marking its foray onto the world stage. The company has since penned agreements with companies from countries including the United States, Brazil and Singapore to tackle global climate change.

The company said that its cooperation with these foreign counterparts is expected to save 8.4 billion kilowatt hours of electricity and 3.36 million tons of coal, while reducing the emission of carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide by over 8.37 million tons and 252,000 tons respectively.

“We are deeply concerned about the financial and energy savings in this sector and we are looking forward to having more companies like Felio Acoustics which can light up our streets and buildings with energy-saving products,” said Yuan Qinghai, the chief engineer at the Economic and Information Commission of Shanghai.
