The Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development has recently issued a notice that calls for harsh punishment of illegal activities that harm or threaten construction safety.

The call demands departments conduct strict safety supervision on construction sites, and have stronger investigation procedures and severe punishments on any projects that may be potentially dangerous to workers.

This aims to enhance the credit and discipline of construction operations.

Cultural bodies to be made more efficient

Officials from the Ministry of Culture have recently taken questions through the media on the ministry’s recent reform on corporate governance for cultural organizations.

The aim of the reform is to build a clear relationship between the government, the market and cultural organizations, while enhancing efforts in streamlining administration and improving services.

The move will improve efficiency of cultural organizations. Key objectives of the reform will include stadiums as well as art museums.

Hazardous chemical guidelines issued

The State Council released a guidance on relocation and transformation of hazardous chemical producers in densely populated areas.

The guidance stressed a comprehensive overhaul for companies that do not meet safety standards and fail to maintain a minimum distance from residential areas.

Priorities will include carrying out inspections on the layout of hazardous chemicals and recording substandard enterprises in dense areas.

The enterprises to be relocated are banned from setting up and expanding storage of hazardous chemical projects at their original site.
