The national e-commerce demonstration park in Shenyang’s Hunnan district ranks No 3 among China’s 100 such parks in terms of comprehensive capacity, following those in Shanghai’s Putuo district and Hefei’s Shushan district in Anhui province.

The Ministry of Commerce unveiled the rankings at an e-commerce innovation and development conference held on Dec 18 in Chongqing. This is the first time the ministry has made such an evaluation since it announced China’s first batch of national e-commerce demonstration parks in 2012.

At the conference, representatives from six e-commerce demonstration parks, including the Hunnan park, delivered speeches to share their experience in management and operations.

Qian Haiyun, director of Hunnan’s e-commerce industry promotion office, said the park has created many city and provincial “firsts”, such as issuing the first electronic invoice and building the first State-level internet economy incubator in Liaoning province. It is also home to Northeast China’s first and largest logistics warehouse with intelligent sorting systems.

In 2016, online trade volume in the Hunnan park reached 4 billion yuan ($610.05 million).

The district started to focus on developing its e-commerce industry in 2012. It has now formed a professional and comprehensive service system to facilitate industrial development.

Over the past five years, the Hunnan district government has launched a series of preferential policies to attract talented workers and support startups. It has set up a 20 million yuan fund to promote the high-quality development of e-commerce.
