Xi’s remarks on internet development
The Fifth World Internet Conference (WIC) will be held from Nov 7 to 9 in Wuzhen, Zhejiang province. President Xi Jinping has on many occasions called for the better development of internet. Let’s take a look at his main thoughts.
On building China into a cyber power:
China is striving to transform itself into a cyber power. Efforts are being made to facilitate deep integration of the internet, big data and artificial intelligence with the real economy.

We will provide more and better online content and put in place a system for integrated internet management to ensure a clean cyberspace.

Officials need to draw sincere suggestions and feedback from the internet, help clarify public misconceptions or their fuzzy ideas about certain matters, dissolve public grudges and grievances, and correct their wrong perceptions.

Innovative methods are needed to spread mainstream values and stimulate positive energy while maintaining proper guidance of online opinions in terms of timing, intensity and impact.
