Kathy Bates

This Serum Restores Lashes

Back in 2016, the Misery star struggled with an issue that many of us face: sparse eyelashes. The reason? As we age, eyelash follicles shrink, leading to shedding, breakage and slow growth. Makeup artist Maria Maio, who has worked with Mariah

Carey and Kelly Ripa, says a nourishing lash conditioner infused with peptides and biotin (we like LashFood Conditioning Collagen Lash Primer, $20, sephora.com) can result in full lashes like Kathy’s now. The formula’s fibers attach to lashes for an immediate false eyelash– like effect, the peptides’ fatty acids stimulate hair growth and biotin strengthens strands to minimize breakage, she explains. Simply apply two to three daily sweeps to lashes for results in four weeks.

Aisha Tyler

A Banged Bob “Lifts” Features

Trading in a straight lob for a shorter chin-length bob with full fringe was all it took for the Criminal Minds star to turn back the clock. “Long, one-dimensional locks dragged her cheeks down and sapped the youthful volume from her hair,” says hairstylist Daniel Koye, who has worked with Heidi Klum and Vanessa Williams. “But a crop that hits just below the chin pulls focus up for the illusion of lifted cheeks while soft, feathered bangs add movement so hair looks fuller.” For a cut like Aisha’s, ask your stylist for a layered bob that hits 2 inches below the chin and brow-skimming bangs. Then give fringe added texture and dimension by spraying them from root to tip with a dry shampoo (like Hask Chia Seed Volumizing Dry Shampoo, $8, walgreens.com).

Helen Mirren

Jojoba Smooths Lip Lines

The Queen may have over-drawn her lipstick in an attempt to achieve younger-looking lips, but the trick backfired on her when the color bled into the creases around her pout, prematurely aging her instead. The fix to line-free lips like Helen’s now? New York City dermatologist Rachel Nazarian, M.D., suggests using a lip mask containing jojoba esters. Essential fatty acids extracted from the jojoba plant, these hydrators prevent water loss and restore moisture to skin’s barrier. This helps “fill in” lines and gives the pout a fuller look overall. Simply place the mask (we like Kismet Golden Hydrogel Mask, $20 for four, kismetcosmetics.com) on lips for 15 minutes for instant results.
