TIMELESS STYLE

-

Sophia Loren’s radiant ruby gown inspires today’s stars to try the red-hot hue!

She won an Oscar for her turn in 1960’s Two Women and was nominated for one for her role in 1964’s Marriage Italian Style, and Sophia Loren has amassed countless awards since. But the Italian star is just as famous for her bombshell curves as she is for her acting talent, and at 83, she continues to wow with her figure-flattering style. “Sophia always stood out for her bold colors and waist-defining ensembles,” says stylist Samantha Brown, who has worked with Candice Bergen and Faith Ford. “She uses fashion to turn heads like no other.”

Now stars are bringing Sophia’s Old Hollywood glamour back to the red carpet in bold ball gowns. “Red exudes confidence, a décolletage-revealing neckline boosts the bust and a floor-grazing skirt ‘stretches’ the body for long and lean,” says Brown. Her tip to trip-free elegance and grace in a gown? “Pick a heel that’s high enough to lift the hem just barely off the ground.”
