Celine Dion may have won numerous awards through the years but at the end of the day, home is where her heart is. “What makes me most proud is to be a mother,” Celine, 49, says of sons René-Charles, 17, and twins Nelson and Eddy, 7. That’s why the singer — who was devastated after losing husband René Angélil to cancer in 2016 — is about to make a bold move to be able to be a bigger presence in her boys’ lives.

“Celine wants to be closer to her son’s activities,” an insider reveals to Closer, so she’s building a new house in Las Vegas’ exclusive Summerlin neighborhood. “As of now, it takes her an hour to get to René-Charles’ hockey games,” the insider explains, and this move will shave 45 minutes off her trip. “She has a lot of wonderful memories in their old house because that’s where she raised her kids with René. But it’s also the house where she watched her husband deteriorate every day, so it will be good for her to be in some fresh surroundings.”

Her new digs, which could take up to two years to complete and cost an estimated eight figures, will have lots of space for everyone. It promises at least eight bedrooms, an underground garage for up to 20 cars, and separate living quarters for Celine’s 90-year-old mother, Thérèse. The home is also much closer to the area’s best private schools, “which she’s considering for the younger boys,” the insider adds.

Celine will continue her residency at Caesars Palace, but her job as a parent is more important to her than ever. “I love performing,” she insists, but “my success is my family. I want to be more successful as a mother.”
