THE NEW DUCHESS OF SUSSEX SETTLES INTO HER MARRIAGE AND LOOKS FORWARD TO CHILDREN WITH HARRY

-

Meghan Markle settles into her royal life with Prince Harry, and they’ve already started to plan for children!

Just three days after her fairy-tale wedding to Prince Harry, Meghan Markle made her first official appearance as the Duchess of Sussex at a garden party celebrating Prince Charles’ 70th birthday. Looking elegant in a pink and taupe silk-crepe dress, she fit seamlessly into the royal festivities. “Meghan describes the wedding as ‘the best day of my life,’ ” a royal insider tells Closer, “but she’s glad that the stress of it is over and she is happily settling into her new life with Harry.”

That life likely will include children, and soon. The couple has made no secret about their plans. “Hopefully we’ll start a family in the near future,” Harry, 33, said after their engagement. And Meghan, 36, reportedly told her former agent, Gina Nelthorpe-Cowne, “I would absolutely love to have children, and I can’t wait to be a mother.” In fact, the insider confirms, “Meghan and Harry are already trying for a baby! They’d love to have at least two.” As Meghan’s former high school teacher, Wanda Rizzo, tells Closer, “She’ll make a great mom!”

REGAL ROLE MODELS

When the time comes, Meghan no doubt will prove to be a loving and formidable mom — just like Harry’s mother, Princess Diana, and Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, 61. “Doria raised Meghan to be strong, stand up for what she believes in and embrace her roots,” says the insider. And since Meghan and Doria “confide in each other about everything,” she will ensure her kids get to know their maternal grandmother. “Meghan’s looking into buying a London home for Doria,” notes the insider, “so she can be close to her grandchildren and be heavily involved in their upbringing.”

In that way, Meghan will be following the example set by her sisterin-law, Kate Middleton, whose mother, Carole, has been a source of support with her grandkids, George, 4, Charlotte, 3, and now Louis. “Like Kate and William, Meghan and Harry don’t plan to send their kids away to boarding school,” the insider says. “Meghan is determined to give her children as much of a ‘normal’ upbringing as possible.” Meghan and Harry are also determined to be hands-on parents. “Harry’s already had plenty of practice [with kids], changing Louis’ diapers,” says the insider. And while he and Meghan come from different backgrounds, “she’ll make sure their kids learn about her African-American culture while leading their lives as royals.”

Above all, the insider says, “she’ll teach her children not to take anything for granted, and to believe that anything is possible if you put your mind to it.”
