Sharing Her Advice to Graduates
She doesn’t just lay down the law in her TV courtroom: Judge Judy Sheindlin also sponsors an annual essay contest, and she delivers the commencement address at the winning student’s high school. This year, it was in Barberton, Ohio, where Judy told graduates, “You’re supposed to really think before you act — weigh all the possibilities. Ten times measure and one time cut.” Judy, 75, also preached the value of hard work: “You’re supposed to strive for an A. You’re supposed to put effort into everything you do. Be a good citizen, be a good child, be a good parent, be a good mate and be a good friend.” Finally, concluded Judy, “Congratulations, and enjoy the journey.”
“Each of you have the capacity
to be the hero of your own story.”
