Paying It Forward
Danny Roberson made sure his late wife Betty’s death would not be in vain, donating $10,000 of her life insurance payout to help forgive $1 million of others’ medical debt.
The two were married for 16 years before Betty passed away from cancer in February. During her chemo, Danny was also diagnosed with a cancerous tumor but refused treatment so they could put all their money into Betty’s care. After she passed, his tumor was successfully removed, and he donated money to RIP Medical Debt, a nonprofit that buys out people’s medical debt for pennies on the dollar. “I know God is blessing” recipients, he says, “and Betty may have [helped].”
