Whatever happened to the cast of... ROC
Carl Gordon
1932–2010
Roc’s dad, Andrew, was a retired train porter. And Carl tracked down roles in the theater and on TV, costarring with Charles in the TV movie The Piano Lesson and appearing in a slew of shows, including ER and Nash Bridges. He died from non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
Ella Joyce
While Roc’s wife, Eleanor, was a nurse, Ella, 64, took care of herself well. She’s been onstage, in TV shows from NewsRadio to My Wife & Kids and films like Set It Off and Bubba Ho-Tep. She also wrote the book Kink Phobia: Journey Through a Black Woman’s Hair and started the dance class Funkacize.
Charles S. Dutton
After garbage collector “Roc” Emerson, Charles,
67, picked up Emmys for directing the miniseries The Corner and guest-starring on The Practice and Without a Trace. He’s also appeared in such pics as A Time to Kill and Fame and onstage in the Broadway revival of
Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.
Rocky Carroll
Though Roc’s freeloading brother Joey worked as a musician, Rocky, 55, became noted for his roles on TV’s Chicago Hope and The Agency as well as his longrunning turn as Director Leon Vance on NCIS. He’s also hit the stage, including a national tour of August Wilson’s play Radio Golf.
