I HAD MY FIRST KISS DURING A HORROR FILM “So I’m watching The Shining,” Nicole, 53, recalls. “And we’re playing hooky from school. And I have my first kiss watching The Shining, is that not weird? We did a few other things than just kiss, too. Don’t ask.”

THAT’S ME SINGING “DREAM A LITTLE DREAM” Nicole hesitated when she was asked to record the opening song for HBO’s new thriller The Undoing.

“I was like, ‘What? No, I so don’t want to do that. My voice is not good,’” she says. “I can’t do with my voice what I can do when I act and that’s very frustrating.” With encouragement from hubby Keith Urban, 53, she recorded the tune.

MY KIDS ARE FOLLOWING IN MY FOOTSTEPS “My oldest wants to be a filmmaker, and she makes films every weekend,” says the mom of daughters Sunday, 12, and Faith, 9. The girls are extras in

The Undoing. “They did five days in the freezing New York cold, never complained, and didn’t get any special treatment,” Nicole says.

I ALMOST DIDN’T TAKE AN OSCAR-WINNING ROLE “I didn’t want to play Virginia Woolf. I begged to play the Julianne Moore role,” says Nicole of The Hours, which brought her a Best Actress win in 2003. “I’m like, ‘I’m completely miscast as Virginia Woolf.’ When I roll with things, it’s far better.”

SHE DOESN’T TEXT “My husband and I never text each other,” she says of Keith, her spouse of 14 years. “We say, ‘I want to hear your voice.’ It’s about trying to keep it as intimate and personal as possible.”
