Richard D. Schwartz

Richard D. Schwartz, age 79, of Winter Garden, FL passed August 18, 2018 after a brief illness at home.

He is survived by his wife, Claudia; son, Richard, Jr ( Leslie); daughter, Lynn Wrabel of Monroe; son Jon, of Boise, ID; grandchildren Richard III, Danielle Schwartz; Michael and Maria Wrabel; and brothers Robert and Frank Schwartz.

He is predeceased by his first wife of 46 years ( Dolores); granddaughter, Melissa; brothers, Ralph, and Kenneth.

Native of Easton, he was born of the late Ralph and Ruth Schwartz.

He graduated from Bassick High School in Bridgeport.

He held jobs at Ruger Firearms, Sikorsky, and Prudential before being hired as a patrolman with Hamden Police.

Then hired by hometown Easton Police Dept., he served for 26 years, retiring as acting detective. He earned an A. S. degree from Norwalk Community College.

He then worked at Gen- LMech until he retired to Florida, where he met his current wife Claudia, both devoting service to the Kissimmee Lions Club and various agencies for sight & hearing.

He served Easton as EMS commissioner, President of the P. B. A., President of Easton Lions Club, and life member of Easton Volunteer Fire Dept.

Richard loved nature, gardening, and his dog, Axle.

A memorial service will be held September 15 at Notre Dame of Easton Church, followed by lunch at Easton Firehouse.

Burial will be private at Resurrection Cemetary in Newtown.

In lieu of flowers, donations to family are requested for cost of services.

Donations may also be made to Easton Vol Fire Dept., or local Lions Club.
