Rosemary M. “Micki” ( Machietto) Stratton, age 80, of Stratford, beloved wife of John Stratton, died suddenly on Friday, September 7, 2018 at Bridgeport Hospital.

Mrs. Stratton was born in Middletown to the late Angelo and Catherine Macchietto. She was raised in the Lake Beseck section of Middlefiel­d and was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. Micki earned her bachelor’s degree in physical education from Southern Connecticu­t State University and her master’s degree in physical education at the University of Bridgeport. Rosemary retired as an LPN at the APT Foundation. She was an EMT and had served as a captain for Stratford EMS at the Lordship station.

Mrs. Stratton was a gifted athlete. She was the first women’s basketball coach at Sacred Heart University and coached softball at the University of Bridgeport. Mrs. Stratton was a skeet shooting instructor for the University of Bridgeport and had been a sailing instructor. She was a fantastic softball player for the Stratford Brakettes women’s softball team, playing for the first championsh­ip team in 1958. Rosemary was the first Brakette inducted into the National Women’s Softball Hall of Fame in 1969 and was selected as All American four times.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her beloved son and daughter- in- law, John and Keri Stratton of Stratford and their children McKenna and Conner; one sister, Catherine Pysar of Durham; one niece, Christine Grenier; and one nephew, Richard Pysar.

Friends may call on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 from 4 to 8 p. m. at the Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main Street, Stratford. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 11: 00 a. m. at Lordship Community Church with Rev. Jeff Lukens officiatin­g.
