Realtor loves helping others by running seminars for buyers, sellers
Valerie King began her real estate career as an investor with her husband. She discovered she had a passion for the field. This, combined with her passion for helping others, was a natural progression for becoming a Realtor 8 years ago.
“It allowed me to stay on top of the market while helping others pursue their real estate goals as well,” King said. She possesses a genuine desire to see others do well, which is why she loves holding seminars to share information with buyers and sellers, even those that are not her clients, and why she mentors other agents without worrying about competition.
Her mission is to improve as many lives as possible by providing exceptional service to help people achieve their real estate goals. To King, the most rewarding part of her career is helping others realize a long- held goal of buying or selling a home, so they can begin a new chapter in their lives. As a volunteer, she works closely with Bridgeport Neighborhood Trust, which serves as a counseling agency to first- time home buyers.
She believes in the importance of having the patience to hear her client’s needs, and to understand, meet or exceed them.
“That comes with providing useful resources and relevant information to help them make informed decisions,” King said. “We become partners in the process.”
With sellers, she creates a tailored marketing plan that she executes through a talented marketing assistant, making sure each listing gets maximum exposure through online and print advertising and social media.
King draws her inspiration from her fami- ly, who drive her to want to do more every day and live a full life.
“My inspiration comes from seeing other strong women exceed normal expectations,” King said. “My mother was the first of many such women in my life. They remind me that anything is possible. A lesson I want to pass on to my three sons.”
King is a board member of the Minority Business Association that serves minority and women- owned businesses and an active member of St. Ann Church in Black Rock.
