Agnes Fraser

-

Agnes Fraser, better known to her family and friends as Nancy, died on August 10, 2018 at the age of 91. Born in Scotland in 1927, Nancy had a long life filled with family and friends. She was a kind and generous woman who did not think twice about honestly speaking her mind. Known for her dry wit, she had a smile on her face and a kind hello for everyone. Nancy was predeceased by her husband Hector Fraser in 1983, and by her brothers Teddy, Jim, and John Matthews, and family friend Samuel Balbraith, all of Viewpark Scotland. She is survived by her daughter Eleanor Fraser; her son John Matthews Fraser and his wife Candace Fraser; her grandsons Matthew Faser Risch and Evan Hector Fraser; and granddaughter Cara Boyhan Fraser. Cara had a special name for her grandmother, she called her Ricky. A very special mother and grandmother, she was always willing and ready to help her family when they needed it, and would always listen when they just wanted to talk. Employed by the Wilbur family for many years, they became her much loved extended family and held an important place in her heart. Nancy was a member of the Southport Congregational Church for 31 years and volunteered at their Carousel Thrift Shop for many years. She belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star, where she eventually became The Grand Representative of the Supreme Grand Chapter of Scotland. She was also the Grand Representative of Connecticut and traveled throughout the United States and Scotland. Nancy faced many challenges in her life, but with courage, acceptance, and her trust in God she always got through it all. Thank you to all of the wonderful people who helped to make her life easier this past year. Especially to Tess and April, for the love, care, and compassion that enabled her to spend the last year getting us all through it, with a sense of humor and love. Nancy was a wise woman who will be missed by many. Sweet are the memories silently kept, of ones we loved and can’t forget. A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 11: 00 a. m. at the Southport Congregational Church on Pequot Ave. in Southport. Tea and sandwiches will be served immediately after the service in the Church Library.
