William “Don” Naber

William “Don” Naber, 92 of Fairfield, the beloved husband of the late Mary Ann ( Church) Naber, died peacefully on Wednesday, September 12, 2018. He was born in St. Louis, MO to the late William F. and Ellen ( Ryan) Naber. Don graduated from St. Louis University High School in 1944 and subsequent­ly joined the U. S. Army. Following his honorable discharge, Don attended St. Louis University and graduated in 1948 with a degree in accounting.

Don began his career as a CPA at Price Waterhouse in Tulsa, OK. Shortly after, he met his future wife on a blind date. They were married in 1952. Don then accepted a position at Olin Corporatio­n, where he was a valued part of their team for the duration of his career. His new position relocated the young family to New Jersey, but they eventually settled in Fairfield; the perfect spot to raise their family.

Don was a parishione­r of St. Pius X and active at Notre Dame High School, where he was the Chair of the Finance Committee. Additional­ly, Don enjoyed his longtime membership at the Patterson Club.

After retirement, he and Mary Ann moved to Sarasota, FL where they enjoyed a simple, relaxing life. He was a member and on the board of the Meadows Country Club and was also active at the Incarnatio­n Catholic Church. He eventually moved back to Connecticu­t to be close to his children and grandchild­ren.

Don is survived by his loving children, Jim Naber and his wife, Vicki of Sarasota and his children, Kate and Tim, John Naber and his wife, Wynne of Easton and their children, Zack, Chris and Jacob, Anne Lillicraf and her husband, Paul of Fairfield and their children, Charlie and Caroline and Don Naber and his wife, Maura of Shrewsbury, MA and their children, Colleen, Kevin, Mary and Owen. His wonderful caregiver and special friend, Vera Pierce, will also miss him. In addition to his wife and parents, his sisters Mary Grace Hopkins, Ellen Walsh and Ann Naber as well as his brothers, Robert and Bill Naber, predecease­d him. He was devoted to his family and enjoyed time with his children and grandchild­ren. He will be fondly remembered as an outstandin­g husband, father, grandfathe­r, brother and friend and will be sadly missed by all.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on September 21st at his alma mater in St. Louis and he was buried next to his wife in Calvary Cemetery.
