The North Haven Police Department union contract only gives the town 30 days to take action if a complaint is filed against an officer and he is set for a disciplina­ry hearing. If no action is taken, the complaint is dismissed.

3.6 Any employee involved in a disciplina­ry proceeding before the Commission may be represente­d by the Union and/ or counsel appointed by the Union, however the Town shall notify the Union for any charges, and/ or disciplina­ry proceeding­s to be held against any member of the bargaining unit. If no action is taken against an officer, by the Town within thirty ( 30) days after the completion of any investigat­ion, no further actions shall be taken against the officer.
