Acocella powers Brakettes

STRATFORD — Kristen Acocella of Easton drove in four runs Saturday to lead the Stratford Brakettes to a 10- 2 victory over the Junior Brakettes in the Micki Stratton Round Robin at Frank DeLuca Hall of Fame Field.

Acocella delivered a tworun single in the fourth inning as the Brakettes

( 19- 2) turned a 2- 1 lead into a 5- 1 advantage. Acocella had a two- run single in the sixth inning and Rebecca Findley followed with a two- run home run.

The Junior Brakettes ( 8- 5) saw their eight- game win streak come to an end with the loss. Charlee Horton of

Stamford led the Junior Brakettes with two hits, including a home run in the fifth inning. It was her third home run of the day. All of the Junior Brakettes defeats have been at the hands of the Stratford Brakettes.

Shelton’s Kaysee Talcik ( 4- 1) picked up the win as she struck out five. Fairfield’s Olivia Vadas ( 0- 1) took the loss, allowing one hit in 31⁄ innings.

The Stratford Brakettes defeated the CT Eliminator­s 18+ team with a 12- 4 victory earlier in the day. Sydney Senerchia ( 3- 0) was the winner with relief help from Sarah Lawton.

Val Suto and Alexa Milius both had three hits, while Milius drove in three runs. Rebecca Johnson, Briana Marcelino, and Lauren Pitney all had two RBI.

The Junior Brakettes stopped the CT Eliminator­s 18+ 6- 1 as Jenna Geffert improved to 3- 0 and Horton hit two home runs and drove in five runs. She was 5- for- 5 in the Round Robin, which continues Sunday at DeLuca Field with six games on tap starting at 8 a. m.

The Junior Brakettes play at 9: 45 a. m. against CT Rogue and 2 p. m. against CT Eliminator­s Women, while the Stratford Brakettes face CT Rogue at 3: 45 p. m. and CT Eliminator­s Women at 5: 30 p. m.
