In 1995, when the owners of this stately brick colonial were looking for a new construction home, they selected a small, intimate development in desirable Fairfield Chase.

“We had our choice of lots and floor plans and chose a spacious, open floor plan and a lot with a central location backing up to wooded open space with awesome views in a real neighborhood for families,” the owner described. “The location offers something special in every season of the year. There are gorgeous views from the front overlooking over the hills. In the back we are surrounded by mature landscaping, open space and a stone wall.

The 1.12- acre setting enjoys natural beauty and privacy yet was still accessible for commuting to New York City for work. The location also offered an abundance of outdoor activity options close by.

“We love to hike, walk, and bike on the trails and back roads out here,” said the owner. “We also enjoy snow shoeing in the open space behind us. We were the go- to spot for sledding on snow days as the neighborhood kids loved our front lawn.”

In the warmer months, the heated inground pool provides countless hours of summer enjoyment surrounded by lush landscaping that makes the backyard feels like a private hideaway.

Inside, a two- story foyer creates a feeling openness that exudes throughout the home’s 4,784 square feet, including the finished lower level. A formal living room and dining room flank the foyer, each appointed with handsome moldings and hardwood floors. The recently renovated kitchen is set to impress with Thermador appliances, granite counters, island with breakfast bar, dining area and custom- built pantry.

“We treated ourselves to a gut kitchen renovation, adding all those special features we had wanted for several years such as the instant hot water dispenser, hidden appliances, and multiple ovens,” the owner added.

The gourmet kitchen flows into the spacious family room with striking two- story fireplace. Here, large windows paired with cathedral ceilings bring in light all year round. French doors from the kitchen as well as the convenient first- floor office open to multiple patios and the pool.

“The transition to working from over the last few months was made much easier with the first- floor office,” the owner stated. “It has French doors facing the backyard so we can get a short break with some fresh air and always felt separate but close enough to keep in touch with the family.”

The second floor boasts a magnificent master suite offering two impressive walk- in closets and a luxurious remodeled master bath complete with soaking tub, frameless shower, double vanities, and vaulted ceiling creating a spa- like experience. Four additional bedrooms and a hall bath complete the upper level.

The finished lower level has multiple rooms and entertaining spaces, making it an ideal teen hangout, playroom or movie theater. The basement has an entertainment area, wet bar, full bathroom, extra study/ bonus room, exercise room and storage.

“The pool and finished basement make this the ultimate family- friendly spot. We were the year- round gathering place for each of our kids’ friends,” said the owner. “There were too many parties and sleepovers to count! These areas have been the source of some of our fondest memories of their childhood.”
