Celebrate the New Year with a New Home

- By Meg Barone

It was the tortoise that won the race against the hare but in the case of the active adult community of Fairview at Oxford Greens it’s speed, not a steady pace, that will really make a difference. Rabbits will have to outrun the turtles to secure one of the few remaining units in this sought after community.

This Del Webb community in bucolic Oxford only has three units left, and given the current housing market and the pace at which houses are selling, these units are expected to go quickly. This is the last chance to secure a place in this vibrant community, said Ronda Gold Margolis, the Community Sales Manager for Fairview at Oxford Greens.

According to the National Association of Realtors “Properties typically remained on the market for 21 days in September – an all- time low ... Seventy- one percent of homes sold in September 2020 were on the market for less than a month.”

This is also a chance to capitalize on new construction with an opportunity to customize many of its features while also taking advantage of low interest rates. It’s anyone’s guess how long those interest rates will remain at their historic lows. Additionally, housing inventory is at an all- time low.

Fairview is nestled in the quintessentially New England town of Oxford and these last few lots are sited along a street with only 20 houses near a quiet cul- de- sac in a woodland setting, which is beautiful year round.

Although the lots and the homes to be built on them are too large to fit in a stocking or under a holiday tree, they might just be the perfect gift for three lucky individuals or couples. They would be the gifts that keep on giving providing its owners with a beautiful parcel, quality home, and a friendly neighborhood, all within a convenient location. This attractive, active adult community sits alongside the Golf Club at Oxford Greens, a privately- owned an 18- hole course with a driving range, putting green and on- site restaurant that is open to the public. The course is rated fourth best public golf course in Connecticut by Golfweek magazine and Golf. com.

In addition to the Golf Club, Fairview at Oxford Greens has The Ridge Club, a 17,000- square- foot clubhouse that serves as the hub of the community. It features outdoor and heated indoor swimming pools, spa tub, tennis and pickleball courts, and a bocce court, as well as a fitness center, ballroom, billiards, and rooms that accommodate the many interests and activities of residents. And Fairview is one of the few active adult communities in the region to have on staff a full- time, paid lifestyle director.

“There’s such an atmosphere of friendliness and energy here,” one resident said.

The amenities and convenience continues with this community’s proximity to Quarry Walk shopping center, which offers a grocery market with a pharmacy, retail shops, medical facilities, restaurants, a bank, boutiques, hair salon, hardware store, liquor store, post office, and other features to enhance modern lifestyle, all only five minutes away. Major roadways are only a short distance away in two different directions.

“We didn’t want to be in a remote location,” one resident said, adding that Fairview provides him and his wife with the perfect blend of privacy and convenience. The latter not only relates to location but to Fairview’s maintenance- free lifestyle, which means no lawn mowing, leaf raking, or snow shoveling.

“Not only is my home perfect for me, the property is beautifully maintained. But more than that, people here are warm, friendly and very welcoming. I truly feel that I belong to a community,” one resident said.

DelWebb homebuilding follows strict quality control measures. Its homes come with energy- efficient features and a 10- year limited warranty. Purchase now and construction would be completed for spring or summer occupancy, Margolis said.

The staff of Fairview at Oxford Greens have devised several ways for prospective homebuyers to view the lots and model home to accommodate whatever level of comfort they require including live video appointments, virtual 3D tours, and safe private in- person appointments.
