Mary M. Favata, 83, of Fairfield, CT and Hilton Head, SC passed away peacefully at her CT home, Sunday, December 27, 2020. Born in Brooklyn, NY, December 19, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Celeste & Alfred MacKenzie and the stepdaught­er of the late Edward Koster.

Mary studied at Potsdam Teachers College, in Potsdam, NY, where she met the love of her life, Alfred J. Favata. After raising two daughters, she later worked as an executive for the family business, Expocon Corporatio­n, in Southport, CT.

Mary had many friends from all walks of life. People that knew Mary would describe her as having true “joie de vivre.” Mary found humor and enjoyment in all situations. She had a wonderful laugh which caused those around her to join in. Bridge became one of her favorite activities.

She volunteere­d her time, enjoyed reading, gardening, traveling, tennis and golf. She was a longtime member of Shore & Country Club in Norwalk, CT and The Country Club of Sea Pines in Hilton Head, SC.

Mary is survived by her two loving daughters, Julie ( Favata) Golicz and her husband John of Madison, CT and Elizabeth ( Favata) Waiksnis and her husband Len of Fairfield, CT. One of her greatest joys were her five grandchild­ren, Jonathan Golicz of New Haven, CT, Jacqueline Golicz of Boston, MA, Jake Golicz of Southingto­n, CT, and Jack & Ryan Waiksnis of Fairfield, CT. Mary was predecease­d by her son, Johnny.

A Celebratio­n of Life will be scheduled for a later date.
