Sarah ( Serafina) ( Menicucci) Ceccarelli, age 102, of Bridgeport, the beloved wife of the late Angelo M. Ceccarelli, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 12, 2021, at St Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport. Born in Bridgeport on March 7, 1918, she was the youngest child of the late Mariano and Teresa ( Olimpieri) Menicucci and was a resident of Bridgeport and Trumbull for most of her life. Sarah was a retired seamstress for the Panettieri Shirt Co. of Bridgeport. During her working years, she served as steward for the garment workers union, fighting for equality and fairness in wages and working conditions. Sarah valued family above all, whether here or in the Italy of her early childhood and made several trips there to visit family. For most of her retirement years, she was an active member of Chestnut Hill, AARP and St Theresa’s Seniors groups in Trumbull, and enjoyed socializin­g at group events and going on trips. Some of her favorite hobbies included tending her vegetable garden, cooking her special meals and desserts for her family, completing all sorts of puzzles and word search books, watching game shows ( Password was a favorite), and playing the slots at the casino.

Survivors include her beloved daughter, Barbara Freddino and son- in- law Michael D. Freddino Jr. of Bridgeport, three grandchild­ren; Janice Freddino ( F. Edward Nicolas, Jr.), Michael D. Freddino III ( Seth Glassman) and Julie Freddino ( Chris Charles Snyder), two great- grandchild­ren; F. Edward Nicolas III and Sara Freddino Nicolas, several nieces and nephews in the US and in Italy and great- nieces and nephews in the US and Italy. She was predecease­d by one brother, Angelo Menicucci, and 5 sisters; Vincenza Cangini, Eufrasia Massimi, Almerina Olimpieri, Madalena Argucci, and Adele DiGularme.

The family would like to extend their most heartfelt thanks to Friedman Homecare Services - especially Marcia Onfroy, Vera Collick, and Tawana Jones, who, along with others, provided her with excellent care over the last few years.

All services will be private at the convenienc­e of the family. Memorial services for family and friends to celebrate her life will be held at a future date.
