BRIDGEPORT - Lina Augusta Cavagnaro, age 96, beloved wife of the late Angelo O. Cavagnaro, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, January 21, 2021. Born in Cicagna, Province of Genoa, Italy, on October 30, 1924, to the late Agostino and Maria ( Malatesta) Foppiano, Lina immigrated to the United States in 1958. Prior to settling in Bridgeport, CT, where she would reside for the rest of her life, she lived in New York City’s Little Italy and worked as a seamstress in various factories. After having her daughter, she became a homemaker and ran a cleaning and sewing business. A lifelong hard worker, Lina was known for her exceptional cooking and baking skills, most notably her pasta and cookies. She was also an avid gardener, and took great pride in the flowers that she planted, especially her zinnias and marigolds. In addition to her husband and parents, Lina was predeceased by her brother, Mario Foppiano. A loving mother and grandmother, Lina is survived by her daughter, Marie A. Henry, her husband Tom and her granddaughters, Alice and Stella, all of Bridgeport. The family would like to thank the St. Joseph’s Center staff as well as the staff of Compassus Hospice for the extraordinary care that they provided to Lina. Contributions to St. Margaret’s Shrine are encouraged. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 27, 2021, at 11: 00 a. m. at St. Margaret’s Shrine, 2523 Park Ave., Bridgeport, CT.
