Walter J. Dunn

Walter J. Dunn, age 82 of Shelton, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021 in St. Vincent’s Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of Agnes “Missey” ( Holst) Dunn for 58 years.

Walter had a long career managing Arctic Sports Shop, where he had worked since he was 17 years old. He was always an avid sports fan. Mr. Dunn was a veteran of the US Army National Guard. Throughout his life, Walter selflessly volunteered his time to various organizations, including Operation Hope and The Rescue Mission in Bridgeport, and he was a member of the Fairfield Rotary Club and The Fairfield Chamber of Commerce. He was recognized with many awards, starting in his youth with being named Orcutt Boys Club’s Boy of the Year in 1956. He was also awarded the Paul Harris Fellow Community Service Award in 1994, the John McPherson Leask Fairfield Rotarian of the Year in 2014, and the Unsung Hero Citation in 2015 from the Fairfield Rotary. Walter coached Shelton Biddy basketball and refereed at the Cardinal Shehan Center, Bridgeport where he was involved for many years.

Dunn Jr., and his wife, Cheri, of Fairfield, Michael Dunn and his wife, Mary, of Shelton, Dawnmarie Krassner and her husband, Mark, of Oxford, and Tammy Ann Villaluz and her husband, Jose, of Shelton, and his cherished grandchildren, Melissa Krassner, Shayne Dunn, Maxwell Jacobson, William Carroll Jr., and Daniel Quintiliano. Walter was predeceased by a daughter Margret Mary, his parents, and his sister, Gerri.
