Jean ( Giovannina) Mastriano Ruggiero, age 93, entered into rest on January 22, 2021 in her daughter’s home in Monroe. Mrs. Ruggiero was the wife of the late Dominic Ruggiero. Jean was born in Bridgeport on March 5, 1927, daughter of the late Philip and Carmela Mendicino Mastriano. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Antignani and her husband, Carl, of Monroe; son, Dominic Ruggiero and his wife, Kathleen, of Chino Valley, AZ; daughter, Donna Graham and her husband, Michael, of Monroe; grandchild­ren, Thomas and Joanne Antignani, Michael and Gina Antignani, Jason Antignani, Dillon and Cherie Ruggiero, Jennifer Ruggiero, Stephen, Lauren and Karen Graham; great- grandchild­ren, Elisia Antignani, Matthew Antignani, Sean and Emily Antignani, and great- great- grandson Elijah, several nieces and nephews, and a sister- in- law, Mary Mitola of Monroe. She was predecease­d by her brothers Angelo and Anthony Mastriano, and sisters Rose Torlish, Mary Manente, Ann Harding, Connie Romano and Phyllis Smith. During World War II she left high school to help her family by working as a welder at General Electric. Jean worked at many other places including Remington, Reads, and spent over 30 years working at 3030 Park in the food service department. Jean was a longtime and devoted parishione­r of St. Augustine Parish in Bridgeport and more recently St. Theresa in Trumbull. She is known for her amazing eggplant parmesan, lasagna, and gravy with meatballs. Her life was dedicated to her great concern for, and love of family. Jean loved Bridgeport and sharing memories of the East Side including her family home on Hamilton Street, Alteri’s bakery, Waltersvil­le School, and the Poli and Majestic Theaters. We want to especially thank her caring and loving in- home caregivers, Constellat­ion Hospice, and Bridgeport Hospital Geriatrics. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at 11: 00 a. m. directly in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St., Trumbull. Interment will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Stratford. Due to the current situation affecting social gatherings at this time, anyone who cannot attend the Mass may watch the funeral Mass by live stream.
