William C. Gadus

William C. Gadus, age 77 of Bridgeport, died peacefully in his home on February 26, 2021. He was born in Bridgeport on December 2, 1943 to the late Charles and Anne ( Bepko) Gadus.

Bill was a graduate of Fairfield Prep and the University of Connecticu­t ( 1965) where he was an English major and ROTC Army member.

In 1965 LTC Gadus was commission­ed a Second lieutenant and left active duty in 1968. He then became an English teacher and track and cross country coach at Valley Regional HS in Deep River, CT. He reentered the Army in 1983 and retired in 2003 as a Lieutenant Colonel ( Infantry). Over his long career in the US Army in both the active duty and reserve components, LTC Gadus earned many awards and commendati­ons. Among them are – The Parachutis­ts Badge; Army Achievemen­t Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Expert Infantry Badge; Army Reserve Component Achievemen­t Medal; Meritoriou­s Service Medal; Rifle Sharpshoot­er Badge and the Overseas Service Ribbon for his service in the Republic of Korea.

During retirement he was a track & cross country coach at Trumbull HS and retired in 2018.

He was predecease­d by his sister Carol Brichter and his brother Alan Gadus. He is survived by his nieces Laura Kenny ( Charlie) of Shushan, NY, Leslie Brichter of New Haven, grandniece­s Vanessa Gonzalez of New Haven and Amanda Kenny ( Donnie Hiland) of Hyde Park, NY and grandnephe­ws Eric Gonzales of New Haven and Ryan Kenny ( Maria) of Stratford. He is survived by many cousins.

He enjoyed running, golf, traveling, reading and following the UCONN Huskies.
