Richard Hoyt, 79, beloved husband of Janet Hoyt, passed away on Feb. 18, 2022. He was predecease­d by his mother, Frances (Sunny) Hoyt and father, Richard H. Hoyt.

A longtime resident of Easton, Dick graduated from Westminste­r School and Yale University. He had a fierce love and loyalty for his family, friends ( both the two-legged and four-legged variety) and to his employees at The Chapin & Bangs Co.

where he worked for over 50 years. He relished his time both on the water and in the woods of Connecticu­t and New Hampshire. Dick was selfless and absolutely ethical in everything he did. He made everyone feel valued because they were. Dick navigated life with remarkable humor, intelligen­ce and perspectiv­e. He has the undying admiration of his family and friends. Unbeknowns­t to many, he had an enduring fondness for Rachmanino­ff’s Vespers.

Dick was active in several community activities over many years. Most recently, he served as a director of People’s United Bank in Bridgeport. He had been on the board of the Yale New Haven Health Systems, as well as, a director of Bridgeport Hospital for many years. He served on the board of the YMCA including Camp Hi-Rock mortgage club. He also served on the board of the Lakeview Cemetery Associatio­n.

In addition to his wife, Dick is survived by his children; Kendall Hoyt (Manning) and Taylor Hoyt (Rebecca; four grandchild­ren, Eli, Rhys, Payton, and Owen; a brother Stephen Hoyt (Lynne) of Santa Fe, New Mexico; Larry Hoyt; Anne Hepner; and several nieces and nephews.
