New med spa opens in Trumbull Center

TRUMBULL — The COVID-19 pandemic has put a lot of focus on people’s faces, said Jennifer Frascone.

“During the pandemic, when we were constantly doing video calls, people constantly saw themselves,” said Frascone, a physician assistant and co-owner of Pure Skin Med Spa, which provides a variety of aesthetic services, from facials to laser hair removal to injectable fillers and other treatments.

Pure Skin has had a spa in Southington for 10 years and just opened a new branch at 948 White Plains Road in Trumbull Center that Frascone said is already garnering a fair amount of buzz.

“We’re absolutely booking up (already),” she said. “I think a lot of people do already know us and we have a good brand.”

In addition to that reputation, Frascone said, all that time spent staring at video images of themselves over the past two years has made people more aware of their own fine lines and other facial imperfections.

She said the recent trend toward removing the masks that people have been wearing to protect themselves from COVID could also be making people more conscious about their appearance.

Frascone said this has led to more of an interest in Botox or fillers, as well as some of the other services provided at the spa.

“Our goal is not to change the appearance of somebody — just to enhance it and make them feel confident in their own skin,” she said.

Prices vary based on the service and how often it will be needed, but the cost ranges from about $80 for a chemical peel to more than $4,500 for some treatments. Memberships and payment plans are available.

Frascone said the spa’s target audience has changed over the years and gotten younger, which she attributes to such factors as the rise of social media.

“We started with a lot of clients in their 50s — women who wanted to age gracefully,” she said. Now, she said, they are seeing more women in their 30s who are using treatments to prevent the onset of wrinkles and the like.

The Trumbull space offers three treatment rooms and is a smaller, more intimate space than the Southington spa, said office manager Taylor Carson. She said the Southington space is about 2,400 square feet, whereas the Trumbull space is about 1,400 square feet.

“It is more of a boutique feel,” Carson said.

Frascone said she grew up not far from the Trumbull location.

“We love the town,” she said.

Trumbull economic and community development director Rina Bakalar said she’s excited to welcome the new business to town.

“The med spa market is growing and it is terrific to have another quality option in Trumbull, and especially in Trumbull Center,” she said.

Pure Skin Med Spa in Trumbull is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m Monday and Tuesday; from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday; from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday; from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. It is closed on Sundays.
