PEREGRIM, John “Flash,” age 99, of Milford, beloved husband of the late Frances Bonavitch Peregrim, died Thursday, May 12, 2022. Mr. Peregrim was born in Olyphant, PA, June 9, 1922 to the late George and Melania Biscoe Peregrim, who were immigrants from the village of Czarna, Poland. Mr. Peregrim was a Milford resident for 75 years. He was a proud World War II U.S. Army veteran serving in the 29th Division, 300th Infantry which took part in the First Wave of the Normandy Invasion on Omaha Beach. During the war he was captured by the Germans and put into a POW camp, managing to escape after being imprisoned for nine months. He was decorated much later with the French Medal of Honor at West Point, May 9, 2014. Mr. Peregrim was retired from Remington Arms where he was employed for 40 + years as a tool maker and grinder. He also was president of the Remington Arms Sportsman’s Dinner and Remington Arms Bowling Tournament Club for 4 years while employed. Mr. Peregrim was well loved by family and friends and he loved traveling to many places in the U.S and Europe with his wife. Survivors include two sons, Kevin Peregrim and David Peregrim and his wife, Jo-Anne, and children, David James of Newtown (wife Kerri), and Danielle of Wallingfor­d (fiance’ Ed Sinclair). Great-grandchild­ren include Nathan Richard Sinclair, 8 years old of Wallingfor­d and Wesley James Peregrim, 1 year old of Newtown. Mr. Peregrim was predecease­d by two brothers, Philip Peregmon Sr. and Frank Peregrim Sr.; and by sisters, Anna Mackey, Sophie Peregrim and Lubov Peregrim. Friends are invited to greet the family on Thursday, May 19, 2022 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the GREGORY F. DOYLE FUNERAL HOME, 291 BRIDGEPORT AVENUE, MILFORD with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ann’s Church, Milford. Interment to follow with full military honors in Gates of Heaven, Trumbull. Masks are required for all services.
