William Kevin Edwards
William Kevin Edwards, 69, of Naugatuck, passed away on Monday, October 10, 2022 at Complete Care at Glendale. Bill was born on March 16, 1953 in Bridgeport, one of five children of the late Natalie (Card) and Warren Edwards. Bill was a loving husband to Rosa (Ribas) Edwards, his wife of 42 years. Together they shared a lifetime of good memories and created a beautiful family tree.
Bill was the best Dad, or “Pops,” as his three boys began calling him as they aged. Bill provided all the security, opportunity, compassion, and positive examples that three boys need from a father. Simply put, there was no better father.
Bill, or “Papa,” was adored by his six grandkids. He was a silly and playful participant in any games or activities they chose. He loved his grandchildren unconditionally and in return, they blessed his soul with much-needed joy as he battled against disease the last six years of his life. Papa’s time with his grandchildren was too short but he can rest assured knowing he supplied them with eternal love and memories.
Bill filled many roles throughout his lifetime and did so to the great benefit of all the people surrounding him. He was a dependable and kind sibling, and his accomplishments in life surely made his mother and father proud.
For 31 years Bill was a U.S. Postal Service Mail Carrier at the Monroe Post Office. Fishing was his greatest passion and he was also a huge fan of the New York Giants, Mets, Knicks, and UCONN. He enjoyed playing poker with his friends and watching movies/shows with his family. Bill bought many scratch-off lottery tickets hoping he could hit the big one. Bill never did hit that big winning ticket, but his family/friends won that lottery every day having had Bill in their lives. Rest in Peace Bill.
Left to cherish Bill’s memory is his wife Rosa; his three sons: William K. Edwards (Krystle), Jonathan M. Edwards (Elizabeth), & Michael J. Edwards (Ashley); his four siblings: Ronald Edwards (Ellen), Robert Edwards (Sandra), Richard Edwards, & Gail Edwards Hill (Kenneth); his six treasured grandchildren: William, Lucas, Clayton, Madelyn, Austin, & Ella; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, & dear friends.
Friends and family are invited to gather for a Celebration of Life from 4 to 7pm on Tues., October 18, 2022 at Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Rd., Prospect.
