Francis A. D’Ambruoso

-

Francis Anthony D’Ambruoso, “Frank”, age 71, moved on to his next endeavor on September 15, 2018 after a long and astounding fight with cancer. Frank was born in Derby, CT, on February 28,1947, only son of the late John “Buckeye” and Catherine Salce D’Ambruoso. Larger than life himself, he made life larger for all who met him. His appetites were vast. He loved food, cultures, flavors, business, achievement, art, film, music, theater, little known restaurants, IKEA, and “a little dirt in his soup”. Frank relished exercising his interests and talents as the business manager at Amarante’s Sea Cliff in New Haven and in cooking elaborate meals for friends and family. He was impressed by other people’s gifts more than his own and pushed everyone around him to achieve their best. We will be marveling over his gifts and missing and loving him forever: loving son, John D’Ambruoso and wife Ann, loving daughter, Lauren Ambrose Handel and husband Sam, beloved friend, Lisa Amato, his grandchildren and the apples of his eye, Orson and Chiarina Wild Handel and Virgil D’Ambruoso, treasured cousins Raphael D’Ambruoso, John and Susan Prestiano, Nancy and David Wojciechowski, Francis and Ronna Donnarummo, and their children. Services will be held Monday, September 24, 2018 at 2:00 pm, in the chapel at Mount Saint Peter’s Cemetery, Derby, with a celebration in his honor to follow at Amarante’s Sea Cliff in New Haven. Funeral is arranged thorough SPINELLIRICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME in Ansonia and donations can be made to the Closer to Free Fund for Smilow Cancer Hospital. https://www. givetoynhh.org/closertofree For more info, please visit www. spinelliricciutifh.com.
