Alice Barbara Buskey Nealon, age 84, devoted wife of the late James P. Nealon, of Bridgeport, passed away on September 21, 2018 while surrounded by her loving family.

Her memory will be embraced by her family including three children, James P. Nealon, of Bridgeport, Timothy J. Nealon and his partner Teri Madsen, of Stratford, Lisa E. Nealon, of Arlington, VA; one cherished granddaugh­ter, Olivia Nealon, of Stratford; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband James, she was predecease­d by her parents, Joseph and Bertha Kowats Buskey; her brother, Robert J. Buskey; and her goddaughte­r and niece, Donna L. Buskey.

A proud lifelong resident of Bridgeport, Alice graduated from Bassick High School in 1952, Albertus Magnus College with a Bachelor of Arts in 1956, and the University of Bridgeport with her Master’s in Science in 1962.

She was a dedicated teacher for the Bridgeport Public School System for 25 years, spending much of that time in 8th grade Language Arts at Blackham Elementary School before her retirement.

Alice loved the City of Bridgeport. Always believing in its strength as a community, she was an active volunteer for several organizati­ons and commission­s including as President of the Bryant School PTA, President of the Bridgeport Original Little League, the Bridgeport Education Associatio­n, where she strongly supported union rights for teachers, the Greater Bridgeport Retired Teachers Associatio­n, the Bridgeport WPCA, and as Secretary for the the Bridgeport Board of Education.

Her life passions included teaching and promoting her students well being, the New York Yankees, New York Giants, the UConn Huskies, crossword puzzles, Broadway shows and classic movies. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. Alice will be thoughtful­ly remembered by all whom she touched in life.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center. Her funeral service will take place on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the interment to follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery.
