Feehan is best for the 120th

-

Do you believe the times we live in where the good guys are now the bad guys and the bad guys are now treated as the good guys? Twenty years ago, our great nation was attacked by terrorists on Sept. 11 and we all hailed our first responders as true heroes. Last week the chairman of the Stratford Democrats, Steve Taccogna, had the nerve to disrespect the service of Jim Feehan, and by effect every first responder and person who ever served our country in the armed forces, by calling Jim’s service in uniform as a fireman and Marine “costumes for junk mail.” What kind of backwards world does he live in where he then tries to compare the paid service of current state Rep. Phil Young by disparaging the lifetime of volunteer service of Jim Feehan?

Steve’s weak argument that Phil Young’s vote on the police accountability act made our community safer is outright laughable. Let’s be clear here: Phil Young chose criminals over cops. Phil Young’s vote in Hartford to support the Police Accountability Act will expose all our police officers, and their families, to personal lawsuits. His vote to transfer money from our first responders to social services is intended to defund our police. Phil’s lack of trust in our highly trained, professional police force is disappointing as is his belief that we can’t see through his intent to defund our police, making our community less safe. Phil Young’s vote will absolutely make it harder to recruit and retain good police. If you ever have an emergency, Young and Taccogna think your first call should be to social services.

I know it’s the political season, so if you’re not sure of who or what to believe rather than what you read from the politicians like Phil Young, Steve Taccogna, or even myself, then just go ask a police officer what they think of the Police Accountability Act and you’ll get the true honest answer.

The cho ice for 120th state representative couldn’t be more clear; we have Jim Feehan who made a career in ser ving and protecting our community as a firemen, a United States Marine and volunteered his ser vices to many different nonprofit organizations. Jim Feehan is the only candidate who supports law enforcement.

On Nov. 3, we can continue this nonsense by voting for Phil Young or we can vote for Jim Feehan, the only candidate in this race who is looking out for our best interest and the safety of our families. Louis A. DeCilio Chairman Stratford Republican Town Committee
