Nevin Ozak Woodward
Nevin Ozak Woodward, age 77, of Stratford, CT passed away peacefully on November 28, 2020 at Bridgeport Hospital with her loved ones in attendance. Born in Istanbul, Turkey in 1943, she was the seventh child of eleven children and first daughter of the late Serafettin Mehmet and Fatma Makbule Ozak. She is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Nermin and Claus Sanders as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition, Nevin will be deeply missed by her two daughters Diana and Michele Woodward and her grandchildren Shaquille Malcolm Johnson and D’Metrius Cash Johnson and her greatgrandchildren Sahri, Savannah and Carter Johnson as well as many others who also called her mom, including Lisa and Jason Gavin, Selda, Adam and Saruhan Karlidag, Louis Varvella, Gina Martin and family, Anjila Vardak, and Gulsen (Rosie) and Nelson Berrios.
Nevin was a gauge calibrator and assembler for Dresser Industries/Ashcroft of Stratford, CT and retired after 35 years. She was known as a hard worker and dedicated employee such that Nevin was featured in the company’s promotional video sent to Dresser/Ashcroft plants throughout the world. She was the example for the company whenever high-profile visitors came to the Stratford plant including former vice-president Dick Cheney. Nevin enjoyed going to the movies, shopping at Old Navy, and donating to charities and organizations; Nevin particularly enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and playing with her grand-doggy, D.O.G.
Friends may greet the family on Saturday, December 5, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. with services commencing at 11:00 a.m. at the Dennis & D’Arcy – Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main Street, Stratford. Please follow current health concerns by wearing a mask, keeping social distance and please avoid lingering after paying your respects to the family. Interment services are scheduled for approximately 12:00 p.m. at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Friends are invited to a reception following the funeral and interment.
