Rosa Maria Berrios Ortiz, age 85, of Stratford, CT; the widow of Tiburcio Ortiz, passed into peaceful rest Thursday, December 10th 2020 at her warm and comfortabl­e home with her loving family by her side.

Rosa was the fourth of thirteen children born to the union of Mr. Antonio Berrios & Mrs. Teodora Ortiz Berrios in Orocovis, the heart of Puerto Rico, on Wednesday, July 17, 1935.

A woman of strong constituti­on and determinat­ion, Rosa was the first to migrate to the States, where she found work as a seamstress in Manhattan’s garment industry. She then relocated to Connecticu­t where she met her life partner of 61 years, Tiburcio Ortiz. Together Rosa and Tibo found, purchased, and managed various investment properties. They served as the gateway for her parents and siblings to migrate to the United States. Her love of family drove her to use her business acumen to mentor them in the business of real estate investment. In addition she owned several small businesses.

She enjoyed keeping active, sewing, working in her garden, as well as cooking for her family, friends and employees, often preparing special plates to suit their palate. The words that best describe Rosa are kind, loving, generous, wise, ambitious, dedicated, integrity and strength.

A women of faith, Rosa Maria Berrios Ortiz, stepped from time into eternity to join her parents Antonio & Teodora Berrios, her husband Tiburcio Ortiz; siblings Carmen Gloria Hernandez, Jose Berrios, Efrain Berrios, Antonio Berrios, Israel Berrios, and former brother-in-law Peter Spinelli.

Remaining to cherish her memory and honor her life are: son, Jesus Ortiz; daughter, Brenda Ortiz DoCarmo (Davilson Gabriel DoCarmo); step-daughter, Maria Ortiz Pizzaro (Jessie Pizzaro); grandchild­ren, Aida Luz Ramos, Jesse Noel Ortiz, Jayden Tibo Ortiz, Luna Rose DoCarmo, and Cristian Jesus Ortiz; siblings, Eliezer Berrios (Benigna Berrios), Elida Berrios, Adalgelia Gonzalez (Jaime Gonzalez), Teresa Spinelli, Neftalie Berrios, Luz Selenia Berrios and Francisco Berrios; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and loved ones, in whose memory she will live on.
