Arthur H. Sorensen, Jr.
May 25, 1941 - Dec. 8, 2020 Arthur H. Sorensen Jr. of East Hartland, CT peacefully passed away after a short courageous battle with brain cancer on December 8, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 25, 1941 in Bridgeport, CT, son of the late Arthur Sorensen, Sr. and Margaret (Nowell) Sorensen. Art graduated from Fairfield Prep and Fairfield University and lived for many years in Shelton, CT before moving to East Hartland in 1999. He was a longtime employee and Vice President of Manufacturing at Mott Metallurgical in Farmington. Arthur married his sweetheart Natalie Ann Bevz and they celebrated 58 years of marriage in November. Art was a loyal member of St. Therese Parish in Granby, he was a Bluegrass enthusiast and had served as the MC of The Hartland Hollow and many other Bluegrass festivals. He was passionate about his neighborhood, working outdoors on his property, walking local trails and fervently dedicated to his family. In addition to his parents, Art was predeceased by his sister, Shirley Gillespie. Besides his loving wife, Art is survived by his five children, Dale Sorensen, Dawn Dellaquila and her husband Mike, Mark Sorensen, Tracey Sorensen and Holly McNamara and her husband Richard; nine grandchildren, Matthew, Mitchell, Tristan, Travis and Gunnar Sorensen, Lindsay, Carly and Grace McNamara, Luke Hovey; a daughter-in-law,
Marty Sorensen; and many nieces and nephews. His family will receive friends on Monday, December 14, 9:30-10:30 a.m., at the Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook St., Granby, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 a.m., at St. Therese Church, 120 West Granby Rd., Granby. Burial will be private in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.
