Stanley B. Kozakewicz age 95 of Stratford, CT passed away November 20, 2020 peacefully in his home of 73 years with family at his side. Born in Bridgeport, CT on July 5, 1925 to the late Phillip and Jennie (Onderko) Kozakewicz, he grew up with thirteen brothers and sisters and remained close to all. Stanley was the devoted husband to Bernadette (Caron) Kozakewicz with whom he enjoyed many travels together throughout their marriage of 73 years. They raised 2 sons and 2 daughters together. He served in the United States Army, a Veteran of World War II and is a Life Member of The Society of the First Infantry Division of the U.S. Army. He loved carpentry design and worked for the Carpenters Union Local 210 and finished his working years at Jenkins Bros where he retired in 1986. While at Jenkins Bros., along with his daily duties, he held the position of President of the Steelworke­rs Union Local 5623. In his earlier years, he would volunteer on Election Days providing transporta­tion to voting locations. Stanley was a member of the VFW Post 9460 of Stratford, The American Legion Post 0042, Knights of Columbus, and Baldwin Senior Center in Stratford. He loved socializin­g and had a passion for the game of pool which he enjoyed playing over the years at the organizati­ons he belonged to. The pool table he had at home was one of his favorite pastimes and was enjoyed by many family and friends. On many occasions on Sunday afternoons, you would find him watching the weekly golf tournament. Also known as “Stosh,” He loved listening to music especially Classic Country Music. Having family gatherings along with friends was important to him, he loved seeing and talking with everyone and all felt the same about him. He loved to have conversati­ons on many subjects and always had a story to tell of his lifetime experience­s from his youth on.

He was an easy-going gentleman devoted to his family. Always having words of wisdom to pass on. For the past 30 years, he looked forward to his daily crossword puzzle. Even at 95 he maintained an unlimited number of facts and figures. In addition to his wife Bernadette, he is survived by his brother William (Bill) of Shelton. His sons – Philip, Kevin and his wife Suchai; his daughters - Lori Bonney and her husband Timothy; Lynn Kiely and her husband Edward. His grandchild­ren Matthew (and wife Amy), Daniel, Kevin, Joseph, Michelle, and Brenna, all whom he gave his support, praised their accomplish­ments, and loved to hear what was going on in their lives willing to help in any way he could. He is also survived by Lorraine Kozakewicz, his sisters-in-law Eleanor Kozakiewic­z and Virgina Kozakiewic­z; he will also be missed dearly by many nieces; nephews; and their spouses. Stanley was predecease­d by his brothers Anthony, Joseph, Frank, John, and Chester; sisters Lillian, Rita, Terry, Sally and Barbara and many brothers and sisters-in-law. Stanley’s family would like to extend their gratitude to Eric and his staff of Lighthouse Home Healthcare for their support and to Sara with Masonicare.

Friends may join the family for a Memorial Service on Tuesday, December 15, at 10:30 a.m., St. James Church, Stratford, CT. Please arrive early to complete contact tracing informatio­n. Wearing of face mask is required. Interment will take place at Gate of Heaven in Trumbull with Military Honors and a celebratio­n of his life during the spring/summer 2021 when the pandemic is more controlled.
