Anne Curtis Ruby, R.N., age 91, of Stratford, passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2020, in Lord Chamberlai­n Nursing Home in Stratford. She was born on March 10, 1929, in Bridgeport to the late John and Hester Curtis. She graduated from Harding High School in Bridgeport, married her husband Robert, and started a family soon after. Once her children were grown, she became a licensed practical nurse and later earned her bachelors degree in nursing from the University of Bridgeport. She was employed by Bridgeport Hospital for many years. She was predecease­d by her husband, Dr. Robert Ruby, her daughter-in-law, Paula Ruby, her son-in-law, Dr. Gary Rader, her brother, Gilbert Curtis, and her sister, Mary Bleckwell. Survivors include her four children, Dr. Robert Ruby, Jr. (Maureen) of Stratford, Dr. Richard Ruby (Janet) of Trumbull, John Ruby (Darby) of Stratford, Suzanne Rader of Arizona, and her sister, Priscilla Wry (Herb) of South Carolina. She had ten grandchild­ren, Jyllian Ruby, Kelly Musante (Jeff), Dr. Robert Ruby, III (Michelle), Dr. Brendan Ruby (Carly), Alyson Gryzb (Steve), Megan Griggs (Matt), Andrea Rahbari (Luke), Bryan Ruby (Shannon), Ashley Coxe (Matson), and Garrett Rader. She was also blessed with twelve great grandchild­ren, Evelyn and Colette Musante, Shea and Torrey Ruby, Curtis and Abby Griggs, Anderson Rahbari, Finley and Reese Ruby, Emerson and Henry Coxe, and Malia Rader. She is also survived by her companion, George Gembatiuk, who devoted his life to her. She created many memories with her grandchild­ren by hosting Halloween parties and special Fourth of July overnight celebratio­ns at her beach house. When the family played softball games on Memorial Day, her team was affectiona­tely called “Grammy’s Slammies”. She was known simply as “Nurse” by many friends, but to her family she was the “queen” whose style was impeccable. She was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and the UCONN women’s basketball team. She enjoyed tap dancing, swimming, walking, and doing crossword puzzles. All services will be held privately and at the convenienc­e of the family. Arrangemen­ts are in care of Cyril Mullins Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
