Anthony Joseph Mattiolo, of Fairfield, beloved husband of 62 years to Marie G. Mattiolo, passed away suddenly on December 24, 2020, two days shy of his 92nd birthday. Born in Brooklyn, NY, son of the late Joseph and Frances Mattiolo, he was a Fairfield resident since 1976. Anthony served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War specializi­ng in Morse code. Part owner of a furniture store, he created the pieces they sold. He was captain of his boat for over 70 years. His hobbies included fish tanks, model airplanes, and model trains. He was called the dog whisperer, lovingly taking care of his granddogs. He loved spending time in his garden and decorating for Christmas. His greatest moments were spent with his wife, children, and grandchild­ren. In addition to his loving wife Marie, he will be sadly missed by three children, Joseph A. Mattiolo, Karen A. Maniscalco and her husband Vince, and Keith J. Mattiolo; five cherished grandchild­ren, Amanda and James Maniscalco, Siena, Caden, and Blake Mattiolo; sister-in-law Mildred DeMarco; nieces and nephews. He was predecease­d by his sister, Rose Badaracco. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, January 2nd at 11:00 am at Holy Family Church, 700 Old Strafield Road, Fairfield.
