Joseph Schlig

Joseph Schlig, age 93 of Trumbull, CT passed away on December 28, 2020 at the Jewish Senior Services Center in Bridgeport, CT. Joseph was born in NYC, the only child of the late Ruth Levine Schlig and Louis Schlig.

After a childhood spent in East Orange, NJ, the first generation American in his family, Joseph won a scholarship to study mechanical engineering at Stevens Institute of Technology, interrupted by a brief time in the US Navy. He earned an MBA from Harvard Business School, graduating as a Baker Scholar. His work at companies large and small, took him and his wife and daughters to many new places, including Puerto Rico, St. Louis, Herzliya, Israel, and Westport, CT. He will be remembered as buoyant of spirit, intellectually strong, and with a pun filled sense of humor. He had a passion for golf and opera and enjoyed both for as long as he could. His enduring love for his wife has been a treasure for his family to see.

Joseph is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Barbara of Trumbull, CT, his loving daughters and sons-inlaw: Nancy (John) Walkley of Trumbull, CT, Patricia (Peter) Eilenberg of Fairfield, CT and Elizabeth (Chaim) Nudell of Millburn, NJ, his adored grandchildren Alison, Megan, Benjamin, Andrew and Jessica, his two great-granddaughters, and his cherished cousin Randy, sister-in-law Eunice, and nieces and their families.

A memorial service will take place at a future time. Shiva will be observed privately.
