Kathleen Stepanowski

May 18, 1963 - Januar y 11, 2021. Kathleen McMahon Stepanowski, age 57, passed away in Bridgeport Hospital today, January 11, 2021. Born May 18, 1963 in White Plains, New York, Kathleen was raised and resided in Bridgeport for the majority of her life. She was a graduate of St. Peter Elementary School in Bridgeport (1977), Notre Dame Catholic High School in Fairfield (1981), and Immaculata College, Immaculata, PA (1985), where she received her B.A. in French. In May of 1993 she married John Stepanowski. The two were married for 25 years until John’s passing in 2018. Kathleen was an elementary school teacher before becoming a home care companion and then caring for John full-time. She was also the church organist and choir director at St. Emery’s Church in

Fairfield for almost a decade and was a member of the band Irish Mountain. Kathleen was also an active member of the GAC in Fairfield. Kathleen is survived by her sister, Eileen M. Melcher of Glendale, AZ, her brother, Kevin J. McMahon and his wife Helenann, both of Stratford, her niece Rebecca McMahon and her nephew Brendan McMahon, as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. In addition to her husband John, Kathleen was also predeceased by her parents, George J. McMahon and Jane Powell McMahon, and her brother-in-law James F. Melcher. Due to Covid-19 restrictions there will be no services at this time but will be planning a celebration of Kathleen’s life in the future. We thank everyone for their love and prayers to Kathleen.
